I wanted to offer to you my condolences for the loss of your dear husband Dima. I had the chance to appreciate his important contributions to science, as his path and mine crossed. Moreover, I enjoyed Dima's warm friendship on several occasions.

In case you might not remember me, let me recall that you and Dima once invited me to your home in St. Petersburg.

Désolé d'apprendre la mort d'un collègue avec qui j'ai partagé de nombreux colloques ou séjours de recherche en France ou à l'étranger. Dimitri était un chercheur exigeant mais je me souviens aussi de sa fonction de "traducteur" pour Birman, fonction qu'il assurait avec respect et humour. Avec Dimitri, c'est une nouvelle figure de la grande école mathématique de Saint-Petersbourg qui disparaît.

Dima était plus qu'un collègue de longue date .Nous nous sommes connus pendant la guerre froide et Dima est souvent parvenu à
venir me voir au CPT de Marseille et me faire profiter de ses grandes qualités scientifiques. Dima était surtout un ami trés cher.
